Pre-planning of submarine cable from Pakistan to Africa completed

By the end of 2019, the underwater Fiber Data Cable from Karachi, Pakistan to Nairobi should be operational.

Sub Marine Cable

The pre-planning for a high-speed data submarine cable system from Pakistan to Lahore have been completed. This cable will connect Central Asia with Africa and Europe. Tropic Science Ltd and Huawei Marine Networks will begin submarine survey for the installation of the PEACE cable system on January 15. The construction contract for the PEACE submarine cable project had been signed by Tropic Science and Huawei Marine in November. The system is said to be operational before the 4th quarter of 2019.

The first phase of the PEACE cable system, spanning 6,200 kilometers, is to connect Pakistan with Djibouti , Somalia and Kenya . In a second phase, an extension to South Africa and Europe with a total length of 13,000 km is planned. The transmission of the data should be done using 200G DWDM technology. The abbreviation stands for ” Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing ” and refers to the currently most powerful data transmission technology in fiber optic networks. The PEACE Submarine cable system has a design capacity of up to 60T. It will connect Asia, Africa and Europe in addition to existing land and submarine cables. It will significantly reduce cable length and thus latencies between China and Africa as well as China and Europe.
