The new Huawei Y9 is a budget phone that costs about a hundred and fifty euros on paper the phone does not look really impressive but the purpose of this review is to show you guys how the phone performs in real life and reveal all the pros and cons.
Huawei Y9 2019:
Huawei Y9 with all the usual stuff no extras included as far as design the Huawei Y9 has a trendy 18 by 9 aspect ratio display that I found to be pretty good for the day you’ll use sunlight legibility is not perfect but that’s a budget device after all the overall build quality is great but the phone is made of plastic the frame may be made of metal as it feels sturdy but I’m not 100% sure since it has a plasticky glossy finish just above the display we have a 5-megapixel selfie shooter LED notification light and LED flash for selfies on the back we can find a single camera system there is no fingerprint scanner because while we implemented a face unlock feature and I found it to be pretty accurate to use still I would love to see the fingerprint scanner budget users deserve to have options two other features you need to know the phone has two SIM card slots any dedicated SD card slot for storage expansion.
Features of Huawei Y9:
Huawei Y9 uses an outdated micro-USB port for charging and finally the loudspeaker is very good for your budget device also it has a volume output of 88 decibels here is an audio sample on paper the Huawei y6 does not look really impressive and honestly I wish it had at least three gigabytes of RAM gaming performance is kind of average that means that you’ll be able to play most of the 3d games but you should expect to see quite a few skipped frames and stutter on the other hand PUBG is playable on a low graphics settings the phone runs on the battery that is based on Android 800 if you have used any device before you’ll feel right at home there is no app tray but you can easily bring it back just like any other Huawei phone there are plenty of features and customization options to choose from there are many display settings smart features you can choose from different navigation keys.
In general the phone feels quite smooth however you may see occasional stutters skip frames or even a bit of lag but overall you can’t expect a flagship great performance from a budget device the overall image quality is pretty good for a budget phone sure some pictures could be sharper but I like what I’m seeing from a cheap phone low light images do not impress but again the quality is not bad for a cheap device selfies to look nice and detailed if you take them and good lighting in low-light things get a bit worse but the front-facing LED flash does a decent job 1080p video quality is good for a budget device the footage looks nice but the only shortcoming that I have is that the continuous autofocus feature is not always reliable 1080p selfie video quality is pretty good too and a sound recording quality is decent in terms of connectivity this Huawei phone is good call quality and signal reception happened great gps is accurate and other connectivity options work fine however I’m very disappointed that there is no charge scope sensor meaning that the phone does not support 360 content battery life has been great my record screen on time was about 7 hours and my usage involved taking a lot of pictures using the phone for social media a bit of gaming and so on however it takes about 2 hours to fully charge the phone with a supplied charger which is not the best result.
Overall the Huawei Y9 shapes up to be a decent cheap phone but obviously it has some shortcomings to consider I don’t like the fact that it ships just with 2 gigabytes of RAM and 16 gigabytes of storage which is not enough in 2018, on the other hand, the device has the dedicated SD card slot for cheap storage expansion also I wish the phone was made of more premium materials there is no fingerprint scanner which is quite shocking and finally the phone suffers from occasional stutter while using it just for the basic tasks now the good stuff the Huawei y6 has a pretty good display great loudspeaker quite a reliable face unlock feature good battery life and pretty good cameras for a budget device at the end of the day the Huawei Y9 still offers quite a lot of value for the price but there are quite a few shortcomings to consider
